Hearts Bike Drive

Every Child Deserves a Set of Wheels
Remember the feeling of your first bike? That sudden rush of wind, the freedom to explore the neighborhood, and the pride of owning something that was "all yours"?
At the Hearts Centre Bike Drive, we believe that magic shouldn't be a luxury. Since 2020, we have seen 3,000+ bikes go from dusty garages to the hands of eager children. What starts as a donation of parts or an old frame becomes a life-changing gift for a local child—giving them independence, exercise, and a reason to smile.
With the help of our community and dedicated partners, we are turning grease and gears into childhood memories.
Our Mission and Impact
From March to mid-fall, we collect, refurbish, and distribute bicycles to ensure every child in our community has a ride. We are incredibly grateful for our core partners—Mike Mitchell, the St. Albert Walmart, and the Alberta Bike Swap—whose donations of bikes and parts keep our gears turning.
Once a bike is donated, our team of skilled volunteers breathes new life into it.
-
Small Bikes (20" and under): These are provided free of charge to ensure our youngest riders get a head start.
-
Larger Bikes: Sold at accessible prices (typically $100–$250).
-
The Cycle of Support: 100% of the proceeds from sales go directly back into the program to buy replacement parts and cover transportation costs. This also supports our distribution partnership with local nonprofits like Mike Mitchell. Any bikes not placed immediately are kept in our inventory to help families in the future.
How the Program Works

We Need Your Help
To keep these 3,000+ stories growing, we need the community's support in two major ways:
1. Donate Your Bikes: While we welcome all sizes, we have a critical need for 24" and 26" bikes for our older and taller teenagers.
2. Lend Your Skills: "Many hands make light work!" We are looking for volunteer bike mechanics and fixers. Whether you’re a pro or a hobbyist, your time helps a child get on the road faster.
If you are a family looking for support through our bike drive, we are here for you.
